RUSTBUCKETS

GALVOS

  BRASS BODIES

I make metal bodied resonator guitars from brass and steel.

All of the variations in style, ie “F”holes, slots, single cone style coverplate on tricones,  are available in each material.

The brass bodies are polished and then electro-plated with nickel.  We can do custom etching on these.

The steel bodies come in a few variations. The first are the Galvo models made from .6 mm galvanised steel.  Then there are the rustbucket models made from the same steel but stripped of their galvanised coating  and then trated to come up with varying degrees of rust finish.

The other type of Rustbuckets are made from old sheets of corrugated steel  that I scrounge from old building demolition

sites and farms etc. The new stuff (from about 1965 on) is too brittle.

NEW !

I’ve developed another option for the coverplate on my tricones.

Look closely at the guitar on the left and you can see that the coverplate is actually the traditional triangular shape but the pattern of the sound holes and the doming of the cover give a more symetrical, single cone look to the guitar. Unlike my other round plate tricone cover, this method does not mean modifying the guitar top. That means I can offer this style at no extra cost over a standard tricone.
